This is not a joke, everything is possible in China, especially with the geant chinese e-commerce portal Taobao of the Alibaba group. This 20th November, A China’s biggest private courier buys two Boeing 747-400 freighters ($48m; £36m).

This is Alibaba’s corporate slogan, It means just like it says, for those who don’t know Taobao, Taobao is an online auction website similar to eBay, owned by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba. But we never seen like a sale on internet before, no one dare to buy or sell a plane in the internet ecommerce history, and this is how Alibaba did, they didn’t lie when they present their slogan in this way.

Real Story

The Story is very simple, Three planes had some issues in their sell, have been in storage in the cities of Shanghai and Shenzhen since 2013, since then had been looking for a buyer. Six failed attempts at offline private auctions organised by the seller in the past few years, WITH NO CHANCE .Finally, This month the owner suggest to try an online auction, No place better than AliBaba’s Taobao. The bidding took  place on Nov. 20, with a starting bid of 122.6 million yuan.

The Chinese carrier bid more than 320 million yuan ($48 million) for two Boeing 747 freighter planes, according to the Xinhua News Agency, which cited the seller: the Intermediate People’s Court of Shenzhen City. A third plane failed to sell.

Alibaba dominates e-commerce in China, recently in the whole world after Amazon, with Taobao and the company’s other shopping platforms accounting for more than 75 percent of online retail sales in 2015 in china.

N.B. The highest ever sale on eBay was a $85m deposit for a superyacht in 2006, topping the previous number one, a Gulfstrem II charter jet sold for $4.9m.

Alibaba, AliExpress (Retail) and Taobao (Auction, three big ecommerce chinese platform that can dominate the world, as china trying to. Everything is possible, who know what we can buy from there in the future . . .
